Chordophones

Chordophones are the third tier of musical instruments covered in the Hornbostel-Sachs Classification system. Any class of musical instrument in which a string stretched over the body producing the sound. The five basic types of chordophones are 1.) Harps, 2.) Lutes, 3.) Lyres and zithers.
