Description: The cavaquinho is a small lute of the European guitar family of lutes. Having its origins in Portugal, the cavaquinho is found throughout the world in many derivative forms; these several varieties of cavaquinho are used in different regions and for different styles of music.

In Portugal the instrument is called “braguinha”, in the region of Minho the instrument is called [minhoto], in Lisbon, Madeira, Brazil and Cape Verde; other forms are the include the cavaco, machete and ukulele.
