The truktruka is a end blown horn that is played by the Mapuche people in Chile. During the ngullatun, they pour muday or chicha inside the tube, and the last day they our in the blood of the sacrificed animals. They play the trutruka to wake up Nguenechen.
Construction: For the manufacture of trutruka; they would select a colihue cane [Chusquea culeou] about 2.50 metres in length and a diameter between 2 cm and 5 cm. The dry cane is split longitudinally and hollowed out. The both half’s are tied with wool or leather to form the tube. They close it hermetically by introducing a fresh animal’s intestine that seals up the tube completely once it is dried.
