Description: The afiw is an idioglot jaw harp that is played in the Northern Philippines.

Regional Names: Among the Bontok people it is known as the abafiw, alibaw, olat, or onat; among the Ifugao, biqqung or guyud; among the Kalinga, giwong, onat, ulibao, or ulibaw; among the Ibaloy, ko-ding; among the Negrito, kulibao; and among the Isneg, oribao. And among the Isneg who reside in the in the Northern Apayo Province, the afiw is called a oribao.

Construction: Most of the afiw are made from bamboo, but some are made of brass with a slender triangular tongue cut through a sheet of metal. The tongue remaining fully enclosed but attached only at the base of the triangle.
