Description: The Ranahalgi a single sided frame drum of the “daff” type. It is used to accompany community dancing in Maharashtra, West India. The frame is of iron and a parchment membrane is pasted and laced on. The diameter of the head is about 50 cm. The instrument is held in the left hand and played with the right, or with one or two short wooden sticks.
