Description: The mazhar [in Arabic: زهر‎; plural mazāhar, مزاه] is a frame drum some what larger in size and deeper in sound to the smaller riq in comparison.

Construction: Having large brass zills or cymbals that are approximately 10-13 cm [or 4 to 5 inches] in diameter. The frame of the mazhar is like its smaller counter riq is made in a similar manner. The same process is used to hold the cymbals or zills in place is by way of a nail holding each pair. A slot is carved in the frame for each pair of zill to freely move when the mazhar is played.
