Description: The tzouras is a smaller sized lute then its bouzouki counterpart. It is played in Rebetika often as a solo or lead instrument. As with bouzouki both the trikordia [six stringed] tetracordia [eight stringed] are available. Frets are arranged in the chromatic 12 tone system divided per semitone.
Tuning: For the Trikordia [six stringed] the tuning Dd Aa Dd would be used although alternate tunings are easily adaptable on this instrument. For the tetrakordia [eight stringed] instrument one could use the bouzouki tuning Cc Ff Aa Dd or Dd Gg Bb Ee a whole tone above [optional].
