Description: This instrument was originally a standard classical guitar. It was later modified to exhibit the same properties of the melody strings on the sarod. The modification was done in a manner in where the original fretboard was removed and a polished steel fretless fingerboard was fitted onto the neck. it was developed and played by sarode player Pandit Vassant Rai during the early 1980s. The tuning is altered from standard E A D G B E to B F# B G B E respectively.
